ITINERARY

DAY 01: PICKUP FROM COCHIN AIRPORT OR STAYTION
 
Arrival at Cochin airport and transfer to the hotel. Evening Have a walk around Fort Kochi area and witness an exotic Sunset over Arabian sea on Chinese Fishing Net on fort Kochi beach. Night Stay at COCHIN.

DAY 02: COCHIN SIGHT SEEING

A full day city tour of Cochin .Visit Dutch Palace (Built by the Portuguese), Jew Town, the 1568 Jewish Synagogue, spice market, where the air is filled with the pungent smell of spices, St. Francis Church Santa Cruz Cathedral Basilica, Mattanchery Koonan Kurishu Church. Feel the waves at Cherai beach , puthuvype beach The evening holds a show of Kerala’s most popular classical dance at Kalamandalam Vijayan Kerala Kathakali Centre [6 - 7:30 PM]. Night Stay at COCHIN.

DAY 03: COCHIN – MUNNAR ( 125 KM, 3.5 HRS HOURS)

After breakfast drive to Munnar the beautiful hill station of Kerala. Transfer to hotel on arrival. Spend the remaining day at leisure and enjoy picturesque landscapes.

Afternoon, proceed for wildlife watching at Eravikulam National Park (16 km).
Note: Park would be close from 01Jan to 28 Feb every year

The Eravikulam National Park is a sanctuary located in Munnar to protect the endangered Nilgiri Tahr. The place is the natural habitat of this rare mountain goat which is facing extinction . Rajamala region is the tourism zone of the Eravikulam National Park. The park opens its gates at 07:00 in the morning and closes by 18:00 in the evening.

Visit the Kanan Devan Tea Museum is located at the Nallathanni estate and the museum has curios and photographs that traces the growth and evolution of tea plantations in Munnar right from the tea sapling to an automated tea factory where it is processes. Night Stay at MUNNAR.

DAY 04: MUNNAR SIGHT SEEING

After breakfast, full day sightseeing in and around Munnar. Enjoy panoramic views of Anamudi, the highest peak of South India at 2695 miter,  is visible from Munnar.

Start with Pothamedu ViewPoint : You can watch the beauty of the Munnar mist that is engulfing the green hills from Pothanmedu View point.The drive to the Pothamedu View Point takes you over an old bridge and narrow roads and the views during the drive is also very scenic. You should try to sip the hot tea from the tea shop near the view point to enjoy the feel of Munnar to the full.

Attukal Waterfalls , it is a must go tourist spot in Munnar where you can view a waterfall amidst hills and jungles.
Also visit Photo Point , Hydel Park and CSI Christ Church nereby.

Continue to Rajamalai Hills lying adjacent to the park and stop by at Madupetty Dam, a famous picnic spot for boating and Kundala lake enroute Echo point, Rose Garden and proceed towards Munnar Top Station.

Top Station, located around 32 km away from Munnar, is the highest point (1700m) in Munnar, on the Munnar-Kodaikkanal road. The place falls on the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border. Here you can enjoy the panoramic view of Western Ghats and the valley of Theni district of Tamil Nadu.Top Station got its name from the fact that it was the uppermost railway station located in the Kundala Valley. At this highest point, you may feel that the clouds are just a hand touch away from you. The destination is famous for the Neelakurinji flowers (Strobilanthus), which used to bloom once in twelve years. The bloom of these rare flowers will give the destination a different bluish look. The next flowering season of Neelakurinji is on 2018.

Then..later afternoon..visit Devikulam. Devikulam is a small hill station about 5 kilometres from Munnar in the Idukki District of the southern state of Kerala, India. It lies 1,800 metres above sea level. Night Stay at MUNNAR.

DAY 05: MUNNAR - THEKKADY/PERIYAR (96 KM, APPROX 3 HRS)

After breakfast leave for Periyar in the morning and transfer to hotel on arrival. You may opt for a pleasant boat ride [if time permit, last cruise of evening at 3:30 PM with 1 hr prior to report] along the Periyar Lake in the evening and enjoy watching varied birds and animals like tigers, elephants, wild boar, deer, etc. at the Periyar / Thekkady National Park. You can also visit a few tribal villages around Periyar and witness fascinating activities of tribals collecting honey from dangerous hill bees. Night Stay at THEKKADY.

DAY 06: THEKKADY – ALLEPPEY (150 KM, 4HRS)

Early morning Periyar cruise is a must do. Pre-book boat safari ticket to avail 1st cruise in the morning at 7:30 am. After return back from safari, leave for Alleppey (3½ hours) on day 6 of Kerala Tour Itinerary. Check in at backwater/beach resort on arrival. Spend the rest of the day at leisure at the picturesque backwaters and enjoy beautiful sunset on tranquil Alleppey beach. Night Stay at ALLEPPEY.

DAY 07: ALLEPPEY TO KUMARAKOM BY HOUSEBOAT

Enjoy the magic of backwater by going on a Houseboat (Kettuvallam) cruise across the backwaters. Spend the next 22 hours in your floating villa. Enjoy the backwaters of Kerala by getting a glimpse of the village life at close quarters; a unique and unforgettable experience. Enjoy the sunset & stay overnight on the houseboat. Breakfast, lunch and dinner included. Night Stay at HOUSEBOAT .

DAY 08: KUMARAKOM TO KOVALAM (180 KM, 4HRS)

Disembark from the houseboat at KUMARAKOM and transfer to Kovalam, enroute visit Krishnapuram Palace, an archaeological museum, and the most fascinating exhibit here is the 49 sq.m - Gajendra Moksham - the largest single band of mural painting so far discovered in Kerala.

Check in to hotel near the beach upon arrival. Day free to spend at leisure on the beach. Lighthouse beach, Samudra Beach and Hawa beach are 3 main beaches here.. Enjoy playing with the golden sands or take a swim in the shallow water. A soothing sunbath is a perfect option to unwind. The more adventurous ones can enjoy thrilling beach sports. An Ayurvedic massage can also be availed.
The most distinctive feature of Kovalam beach, this 45 year old working lighthouse, still remains a major attraction for tourists. Once you climb the 150 stairs and reach to the top, the aerial view of the beach and water will leave you awe struck. The tower is well lit from the inside, with enough space to walk comfortably. DAY 09: KOVALAM SIGHT SEEING

After breakfast, full day free to explore the beaches. First drive to Varkala Beach [50 Km, 1.5 hrs] . Counted as one of the top ten seasonal beaches in the world by discovery channel, this beach has a stunning beauty of landscapes, brown sand, and sea. It’s a perfect spot to relax with a laidback atmosphere. Popular for beach activities like swimming and sunbathing, this beach offers a striking sunset views. It can simply take your breath away with its long winding stretch of cliff that expands over the Arabian Sea.

After Exploring Varkala and Papnasham beach.. drive towards Poovar [18km from Kovalam] . Poovar is one among the natural wonders where the Lake,Backwater, River, Sea and Beach meet the land. Poovar offers several possibilities. Cruise to a neighbouring fishing village in 2 minutes. Alter course, and visit a centuries old martial arts village. Kerala is the birthplace of a unique martial art form. The traditional lifestyles here provide the experience of a natural museum .The Poovar beach separates the river from the sea and is quite breathtaking. Because of the active fishing population the beach is not really used as a sunbathing spot or for swimming as the currents are quite strong.

DAY 10: KOVALAM - KANYAKUMARIKA TRANSFER (90 KM, APPROX 2 HRS)

Early Morning after breakfast, start journey towards Kanyakumari. On the way, visit Padmanapuram Palace and Suchindreem Temple. Check in the Hotel, later visit Kumari Amman Temple, KanyaKumari beach , tsunami Memorial and in the evening have a wonderful sunset from the Sunset view Point. Night Stay at KANYAKUMARI.

DAY 11: KANYAKUMARIKA SIGHT SEEING

Take an morning boat ride to Vivekananda rock Memorial and Thiruvalluvar statue .
[The ferrying starts from 9 AM in the morning to 4pm in the evening]. Starting early morning is the best to visit the Vivekananda Rock Memorial and Thiruvalluvar statue.

Vivekananda Rock Memorial boasts of great architectural excellence. The memorial which was inaugurated in 1970 now mesmerises every visitors with its architecture. It was in 1962, when the idea of the memorial was first proposed. There two primary mandapam- Vivekananda Mandapam and Sripada Mandapam; both these mandapam have been built in such a way that the statue of Swami Vivekananda can be seen directly from Sripadam.

Dedicated to the accomplished philosopher and poet Thiruvalluvar, this beautiful statue is located on a small island near Kanyakumari. This monument stands tall at a mighty height of 133 feet and is perched upon a 38-foot pedestal. The pedestal’s height represents the 38 chapters of virtue in Thirukkural. Full of symbolism and cultural significance, this destination is awe-inspiring.

Later half, visit, Thanumalayan temple , Sanguthurai Beach, Our Lady of Ransom Church, Evening on the Kanyakumari beach, enjoy evening on marine drive.  Night Stay at KANYAKUMARI.

DAY 12: KANYAKUMARIKA TO TRIVANDRUM TRANSFER (100KM/3 HRS)

Arrive Trivandrum city tour of Trivandrum. The main attraction is Padmanabhaswamy Temple, one of the 108 pilgrimage sites for the Vaishnavites. The exquisite carvings on its 400 pillars is notable.

Spend your time next at at the Napier Museum and Natural History Museum, located together in the heart of the city. This Museum offers an insight into the cultural history of Kerala, featuring various artefacts. The building of the museum, in itself, is a fine example of Kerala’s architectural design, mixed with Mughlai and Chinese architecture.
Laze around at Valiyathura Pier: For the evenings here are magical.Situated near the airport, Valiyathura Pier will be the perfect end to your vacation. Once a bustling port of Trivandrum — it is, now, a secluded and blissful place to experience the serene sunset. While sitting by the 200 m long pier, witnessing an activity as simple as fishermen packing up their nets at sunset will leave you filled with peace and calm. Night Stay at TRIVANDRUM.

Day 13: TRIVANDRUM DEPARTURE

After breakfast transfer to Trivandrum airport to connect flight for onward destination.
